White socks, black shoes

Alright. I know my sister thinks I am crazy, and maybe I am. But I think that Michael Jackson's death is a defining moment in the history of music. Just like Elvis' death that I am too young to remember, his death defined a generation and now Michael's is doing the same. I was truly shocked to hear of his passing and honestly swore it was just a publicity stunt for the longest time. And I am not saying that I am a huge fan of MJ, I appreciate his music and I admit that I have a burnt CD complete with Billie Jean, Thriller, and that Free Willy song (Will be there or something?) I even remember in high school a good friend of mine used to sing Billie Jean quite often. And every Halloween, my dance line would dance to Thriller complete with zombie costumes we made ourselves. So yes, MJ was apart of my growing up and I see it right to pay tribute to him.

Yes, he might have done some things that were wrong. And he is paying for those things, whatever they may be now. That doesn't take away from the fact that he is a legend in the music industry. And boy could he dance! We can't judge someone by speculation. That's not our job, thats the Big Man upstairs job. But we can remember him for the greatness that was Michael Jackson. ABC...it's easy as 123! And every Christmas I can't wait to hear the Jackson 5's version of Santa Claus is coming to town.

So the day after MJ died, I wore white socks and black shoes to work. Everyone immediately got it. I was so worried that the fashion police would come arrest me for the horrible look I was sporting, but everyone that saw me immediately got it and loved it. And turns out, I was not the only one! I tried to find a picture of him in those black shoes and white socks, but never could seem to find a good one...oh well....

So, here in this blog, is my tribute to Michael Jackson. May he rest in peace. May his music live on. May we remember him for what he was in the beginning and not what he came to be and what the media wanted us to believe.

I will be watching the CNN live broadcast of the memorial service today. So that one day, I can say yes I did see it, and yes I remember it. I think it will be important to know one day. It is a defining moment in my generation and I will be there to see it.

Have a great day everyone!
